Online tool store in Canada Own plugin, pay on pickup, QuickBooks accounting

A laptop with an online tool store on a pickup counter, next to gloves, saw blades and a card terminal, a snowy forest outside the window: cover of a case about an online store in Canada

01 — The client

The company

Vitos Trade Ltd. imports tools and safety gear straight from the factories and sells with no middlemen through its own pickup points in Saskatoon and Calgary. The store had to work the same way: fast, with no extra links, built around the real sales process rather than WooCommerce habits.

02 — Context

The task

Gloves, saw blades, cutting discs, construction consumables. The customer orders online, collects at a pickup point and often pays on the spot. Goods arrive by container, and some items can be sold while still on the way.

Off-the-shelf plugins solve each of these needs separately, and the store turns into a dozen third-party modules that conflict and slow it down. What was needed was one solution built around the company’s model, plus a link to QuickBooks so the owner stops reconciling stock by hand.

03 — Solution

How it works

3.1

Design built for the model, not the template

The home page explains the business on one screen: from the factory, no resellers, pickup in two cities. The header with a category mega menu, product cards and footer were built from Figma mockups for desktop, tablet and phone. A buyer on a job site finds the right disc in two taps.

3.2

One plugin of our own instead of ten others

All the non-standard features live in a single plugin that extends WooCommerce: a smart storefront on the home page (featured, bestsellers, new arrivals, cached), wishlist and comparison, one-click purchase with “Buy Now”, pay on collection. No paid subscriptions to third-party modules and no conflicts between them.

3.3

Selling while the goods are still on the way

For items not yet in stock the price is hidden and the buy button reads “On the Way”. The buyer sees the product is coming and returns; the store loses no demand during shipping. It works automatically everywhere: catalogue, search, related products, cart.

3.4

Stock that matches the books

The store is linked to QuickBooks, and the SKU system was designed around that link. Orders, products and stock levels match in both systems; the owner no longer reconciles spreadsheets by hand.

3.5

Being found

Two audits: technical, and for AI-system recommendations, which increasingly answer the question “where to buy”. Indexing errors fixed, descriptions written, a Google Business profile set up for both pickup points. The contact page with a map and hours removes the last question before the trip to collect.

04 — Outcome

The result

The store works the client’s way: order online, collect, pay on the spot, sell goods before they arrive. New items are added without a developer and the books reconcile themselves.

The client’s verdict after the home page handover: “on a par with the top studios”. This is the second project for the same company, after the handyman website.
